Herring Swedish style is a traditional dish of Swedish cuisine infused with the flavors of the northern seas and aromas of spices. Fish rolls made from herring, wrapped with lemon, pepper, or anchovy, simmer in a rich tomato sauce with marjoram and dill seeds. The light sweetness of sugar balances the acidity of the tomatoes, while fried onion rings add depth to the flavor. The tender texture of the fish soaked in sauce combines with spicy notes of dill to create a rich taste. This dish can be served as a hot main course or as an appetizer, accompanied by fresh bread and herbs. Swedes appreciate it for its simplicity in preparation and rich flavor that is perfect for cozy home dinners on cold northern evenings.

Slightly crush the dill seeds with a rolling pin and fry them in heated oil. Evenly distribute the sliced onion rings over the dill seeds. Place the sprat rolls tightly on top of the onion layer.
