Lard with spices is a traditional Ukrainian delicacy that delights with its rich taste and aroma. Historically, lard was an integral part of Ukrainian cuisine, used as a source of energy and nutrition. In this recipe, tender pieces of lard are infused with garlic and khmeli-suneli spices, creating a unique flavor symphony complemented by the pungent aroma of cumin. The spices enhance the natural fattiness of the lard, adding zest and depth. After a few days in the refrigerator, the lard becomes firm, infused with spices and ready to eat. It is served with rye bread, vegetables or mustard, creating a perfect combination of textures and flavors. This is not just an appetizer — it is a cultural heritage that unites generations and brings the taste of home comfort.
