Simple polenta is a traditional dish of European cuisine, especially popular in Italy. Its roots go back to the era when corn became a staple food for the poor. Polenta has a tender, velvety texture and a slightly sweet taste that pairs well with various sauces and cheeses. Patience and constant stirring are important in preparing this dish to achieve the perfect consistency. Once set, polenta is sliced and served as a standalone dish or side, sometimes fried to a golden crust. It is versatile – great with meat, vegetables, and even sweet toppings, creating a cozy and rich flavor of home-cooked comfort.
