Sandwiches with sprats, garlic, and pickles are a vivid representative of Russian cuisine, embodying its heartiness and richness of flavors. The origins of this simple yet appetizing dish trace back to the Soviet era when sprats in oil were an essential attribute of festive tables. Crispy fried bread infused with garlic aroma harmoniously combines with the saltiness of cucumbers and the tenderness of sprats, creating a rich flavor palette. The addition of cheese makes the snack even more indulgent. These sandwiches are perfect for cozy home gatherings and also make an excellent addition to any feast. Easy to prepare yet memorable in taste makes them a truly folk recipe.

1
First, take a garlic press and crush the garlic in a deep bowl.
- Garlic: 4 cloves
2
We take the cheese and grate it on a fine grater. We add it to the bowl with the garlic.
- Gouda cheese: 100 g
- Garlic: 4 cloves
3
Add mayonnaise to the bowl and mix everything thoroughly to evenly distribute the garlic.
- Mayonnaise: 50 g
4
To make it easier to fry the bread, each slice can be cut in half. Add vegetable oil to the pan and fry the bread on both sides until golden brown. Place the bread on a plate.
- Black bread: 5 piece
5
We grease each piece with cheese-garlic mixture.
6
Next, we slice the cucumbers into thin slices (cutting the cucumber lengthwise). We place two slices on each piece of bread.
- Pickles: 4 pieces
7
Then open the can of sprats and place 1-2 sprats on each slice of bread on top of the cucumbers.
- Sprats: 1 jar
