Preheat the oven to 230 degrees.

Cut the fennel in half lengthwise and boil until tender for 15 minutes. Drain and dry with a paper towel.

Grease the baking tray with oil and place the fennel halves cut side down. Also, spread softened butter on top, season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with parmesan and finely chopped thyme.
