Mushrooms in sour cream is a cozy, traditional dish of Russian cuisine that embodies its simplicity and rich flavor. It harmoniously combines the earthy aroma of mushrooms, the tenderness of sour cream, and the spiciness of cheese. Historically, mushrooms have held an important place in Russian gastronomy as they were always easy to find in forests. Baking with cheese gives the dish an appetizing crust, while adding greens completes the flavor composition with fresh notes. This dish is perfect as a side or a standalone treat, especially in the autumn-winter period when one wants to warm up with something hearty and homey.
