Cheese sticks made from puff pastry are an elegant snack that comes from sunny Italy. They are crispy golden spirals infused with the aroma of parmesan and a hint of black pepper. Italian cuisine is known for its simple yet expressive flavors, and these sticks are a bright testament to that. Easy to prepare, they are perfect for an aperitif, as an accompaniment to soups, or simply as a refined snack with a glass of wine. Their airy structure and rich cheesy flavor create a delightful combination of textures: the tenderness of the puff pastry harmonizes with the chewy notes of parmesan. They cook quickly, and their spiral shape makes them not only tasty but also visually appealing—a perfect choice for cozy evenings and festive tables.

1
Place 2 baking sheets in the oven on the top and middle rack, preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Grate the parmesan.
- Parmesan cheese: 60 g
2
Take a piece of dough and place it on parchment. Sprinkle it with parmesan, salt, and pepper. Cover it with a piece of parchment on top and roll it with a rolling pin to press the cheese into the dough. Roll out the dough to about 25x25 cm.
- Puff pastry: 245 g
- Parmesan cheese: 60 g
- Salt: 0.3 teaspoon
- Ground black pepper: pinch

Remove the top sheet of parchment and, using a sharp knife (or pizza cutter), cut the dough into 13 strips about 2 cm wide. Carefully take each strip by the ends and twist several times in opposite directions - a spiral with several turns should form. Transfer the strips to parchment-lined baking sheets, leaving about 2.5 cm space between them.

Bake for about 5 minutes, then swap the trays. Then another 5 minutes until the strips turn golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
