Sweet donuts loukoumades (lokma) in syrup

Loukoumades, or lokma, are exquisite Greek doughnuts soaked in sweet syrup that date back to ancient times. These golden, crispy on the outside and airy on the inside dough balls are traditionally served in Greece as a symbol of joy and celebration. Loukoumades have a delicate, slightly yeasty flavor that is enhanced by the syrup with a hint of citrus tang. In a large pot, add 3 cups of sugar and 2 cups of water. Stir and bring to a boil. When it starts boiling, add lemon juice. Mix everything and boil for another 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
- Sugar: 1 tablespoon
- Lemon: 0.3 piece

Mix yeast, salt, and sugar with flour. Slowly pour in a cup of warm water and knead the dough. The dough should be soft. Cover the dough and let it rise for about an hour.
- Dry yeast: 1 tablespoon
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Sugar: 1 tablespoon
- Wheat flour: 2 glasss

In an hour, when the dough rises, mix it well again.

To fry donuts, pour 3 cups of vegetable oil into a medium-sized pan. Dip a spoon into the oil. Take a bit of dough in your hand, squeeze it into a fist, and press out a small ball between your thumb and index finger. Use the spoon to remove the small dough balls and immediately drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown.
- Vegetable oil: 3 glasss

When the donuts are ready, take them out and immediately dip them in sweet syrup.

After 5 minutes, take the donuts out of the syrup and place them on a plate. They can be served with pistachios, cinnamon, or honey.
