Chocolate biscuits in a sandwich maker

Chocolate biscuits in a sandwich maker are a cozy treat from Yugoslavia, delighting with their rich chocolate flavor. Their origin is closely tied to home baking when families sought a quick way to make a sweet dessert without an oven. These biscuits turn out soft, tender, and aromatic thanks to the combination of cocoa, vanilla, and butter. An important feature is the use of a sandwich maker that gives the baked goods a convenient shape and even texture. They can be served with berries, powdered sugar, or cream, turning into a true culinary joy. They are perfect for a cozy tea time or as a quick dessert with coffee. The simplicity of preparation and rich taste make this recipe a favorite among sweet lovers!

1
Mix softened butter with sugar until creamy.
- Butter: 110 g
- Sugar: 100 g
2
Add eggs and mix. (In the original recipe, vanilla extract is added at this stage; I added vanilla to the milk)
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
3
Gradually add flour (and cocoa) and baking powder (I mixed the powder last, but I think it can be added at this stage too)
- Wheat flour: 130 g
- Cocoa powder: 3 tablespoons
- Baking powder: 1 tablespoon
4
Pour in the milk and knead until a smooth, lump-free mass is formed. (You may need more or less milk. The original recipe calls for 30 ml, which I found to be insufficient. I recommend starting small and adjusting to achieve the desired consistency of thick but pourable batter.)
- Milk: 60 ml
5
Next, grease the sandwich maker with oil to prevent sticking.
- Vegetable oil: 1 tablespoon
6
Close the sandwich maker empty and heat for 3-5 minutes (my sandwich maker has a light that indicates readiness)
7
Open, pour the dough into the cavities, close and wait for 3-5 minutes.
8
Check the readiness with a toothpick. If all is well, take it out and place it on a plate. You can decorate it with whatever you like — powdered sugar, berries, cream, etc.
9
There are some nuances in the note.
