Button cookies are a charming treat from Russian cuisine where simple ingredients turn into small works of art. Thoroughly mix the yolks with sugar and vanilla sugar. Add soft butter and mix well. Gradually add flour, kneading with a spoon each time. Set aside half of the dough in another container and shape it into a ball by hand. Add cocoa to the second half, knead a little with a spoon, and also shape it into a ball.
- Egg yolk: 2 pieces
- Sugar: 80 g
- Vanilla sugar: 2 teaspoons
- Butter: 100 g
- Wheat flour: 200 g
- Cocoa powder: 2 teaspoons

Place both types of dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Roll out the light dough to a thickness of about 5-7 mm.

Cut out circles with a cutter. Then make an indentation on each circle without cutting all the way through (you can use a plastic bottle cap). Then make two or four holes in the center like a button. Using a spatula or knife, transfer all the circles to a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Place in a preheated oven at 180 degrees. Bake for about 20 minutes.
