Layered roses with apples are an exquisite treat from Russian cuisine, combining the tenderness of puff pastry and the sweetness of caramelized apples. This dessert resembles small flowers blooming in the rays of golden baking. The light crispness of the pastry harmoniously complements the soft apple slices soaked in syrup. The history of such desserts traces back to traditional Russian pies, but their elegant shape makes them especially popular for holidays and romantic evenings. The presentation of the roses delights the eye and awakens the appetite – they are wonderful as a standalone treat as well as paired with ice cream or vanilla sauce.
