For the cake base, preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Grease and flour a 20x20 cm baking pan.

In a mixing bowl, beat 120 grams of butter, 3/4 cup of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for about 3 minutes. Add the egg. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk in 3 batches while continuing to beat, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
