Prepare the dough. For this, beat the butter with sugar until a uniform creamy mass, add the yolks, vanillin, yeast, and lemon zest. Beat for about 2 more minutes. While continuing to beat, add the sifted flour.

Whip the egg whites into a fluffy foam. Add them to the batter and gently mix.

Peel the apples, and slice the flesh into thin pieces.

Place half of the dough in a greased and floured cake pan. Top with half of the apples. Add the remaining dough and then the remaining apples on top. Brush the top layer with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees for 1 hour.
