Oatmeal dessert with nuts and prunes

4 servings

10 minutes

Oat dessert with nuts and prunes is a harmonious blend of crunchy oat flakes, the rich flavor of walnuts, and the sweet tartness of prunes. This recipe, inspired by American cuisine, resembles traditional oat bars but has a unique texture and aroma. The light caramelization of the oats when toasted reveals its nutty notes, while the softness of the prunes adds tenderness. Honey provides natural sweetness and binds the ingredients into a dense, rich mass. This dessert makes an excellent option for a healthy snack, maintaining energy and satisfying hunger. It's convenient to take on the go and becomes a cozy treat when paired with a cup of tea or coffee. Its simplicity in preparation makes it accessible even for those just starting their culinary journey.

Mix oats, nuts, and prunes, then gradually add boiling hot water, 1 tablespoon at a time. The mixture should be moist, thick, and sticky, but not wet. Add honey and mix well.

    4. Water2 tablespoons
    5. Honey to taste

Place the oat mixture on a skillet greased with olive oil, flatten it out, and press it down slightly. Nothing should fall apart or spread; the mixture should be sticky and dense. If it spreads, add more oats.

Place the pan on the smallest flame, preferably on a diffuser. Cover with a lid and hold for about 7-10 minutes on each side. The compacted mass should brown and stick together more, but not burn.

  • 5

To brown the other side, place a plate on the skillet, flip the skillet, and the pressed mass will be on the plate with the browned side up. Now just carefully shake the oatmeal-nut mixture back onto the skillet. This way, the second side will brown.

  • 6

Cool the prepared mass in the pan and cut into squares.
