Tangerines in syrup

If you don't have sake on hand, feel free to add vodka or cognac. Just make sure it's the most delicate of all vodkas, which means you'll have to try it first.

Wash the mandarins, dry them, and make several cuts on each.
- Tangerines: 15 pieces

Pour cold water over the prepared mandarins just to cover them, add sake and anise, bring to a boil, and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Sake: 1 tablespoon
- Anise (star anise): to taste

Take out the mandarins and let them cool.

Add sugar to the tangerine broth and pour in 1/3 cup of water, bring to a boil and cook for 1-2 minutes. Slightly cool the finished syrup.
- Sugar: 1 glass

Pour syrup over the mandarins. Serve with creamy ice cream.
