Fried Cabbage Pies

Cabbage itself is not as good as in the company of friends: carrots, onions and tomato paste. That's why they came together in the filling. As in the previous recipes, we limited ourselves to an ascetic set of ingredients. But if you want to add dill, or an egg, or even cracklings to the cabbage, don't deny yourself anything.

Prepare all the ingredients.

Combine yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a bowl. Pour in a small amount of warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Dry yeast: 5 g
- Water: 500 ml

In a large bowl, combine the remaining warm water, 1 teaspoon of salt, the remaining sugar, and 5 tablespoons of oil. Add the yeast mixture. Mix thoroughly.
- Water: 500 ml

- Dry yeast: 5 g
- Salt: to taste

Gradually add flour to the bowl. Add 1 cup at a time, then mix thoroughly. Or entrust this task to a dough mixer. If the dough doesn't form a ball, add another 2 tablespoons of flour.

Place the prepared dough in a bowl greased with oil. Cover with plastic wrap.
- Vegetable oil: 75 ml

Place the dough in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours; it should double in size. Then knead it and let it rise again for another 0.5 hours.

Finely chop the onion. Grate the carrot on a coarse grater.
- Onion: 300 g

Chop the cabbage finely.
- White cabbage: 600 g

Fry the onion and carrot in vegetable oil. After 5 minutes, add the cabbage. Season with salt and pepper.

Add tomato paste to the vegetables. Simmer on medium heat for about 15 minutes.

Divide the dough into balls of the same size. Cover the balls with plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.

Roll out the balls. Place filling in the center of each. Shape into pies.

Fry the pies in a large amount of boiling refined oil.
