Heart-shaped cake is not just a dessert but a true confession of love sealed in tender dough. Its roots trace back to European cuisine, where baking has always been a way to express feelings. In this recipe, an exquisite vanilla base hides a bright red heart inside, adding a romantic touch and a slight sweet-tartness of the red sponge cake. The buttery dough makes it incredibly soft, while the powdered sugar gives it a light and airy texture. Such a cake is perfect for special occasions, whether it's Valentine's Day or simply a moment to delight a loved one. Each slice is like a little confession, and its preparation becomes a genuine creative process filled with warmth and inspiration.

1
Beat 150 g of softened butter with 120 g of sugar until smooth.
- Butter: 450 g
- Sugar: 420 g

2
Add 3 eggs one by one, continuing to beat the mixture with the whisk attachment of the mixer.
- Chicken egg: 8 pieces

3
Sift 150 g of flour and 1 tsp of baking powder. Add the dry mixture to the egg, butter, and sugar mixture, add food coloring, and knead the dough.
- Wheat flour: 450 g
- Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
- Red food coloring: 10 g

4
For the red biscuit, you will need a low flat mold. Line it with baking paper and pour the batter into it.

5
Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Check readiness with a skewer.

6
Remove the cake and let it cool. Check its height – it should be about 2 cm. If it's taller, cut the pie lengthwise with a long thin knife to reduce its height. Use a heart-shaped cutter to cut out hearts from the cake.

7
Beat 300 g of softened butter with 300 g of sugar until smooth.
- Butter: 450 g
- Sugar: 420 g

8
Add 5 eggs one by one, continuing to beat the mixture with the whisk attachment in the mixer.
- Chicken egg: 8 pieces

9
Cut the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out all the seeds with a knife. Add the seeds to the mixer bowl with butter, sugar, and eggs.
- Vanilla pod: 1 piece

10
Sift 300 g of flour and 1 tsp of baking powder through a sieve. Add the dry mixture to the mixer bowl and knead the dough.
- Wheat flour: 450 g
- Baking powder: 2 teaspoons

11
Take a cake mold. Line it with parchment paper.

12
Place 1/4 of the dough at the bottom of the mold.

13
Insert hearts made of red dough in the middle of the dough. Firmly, like a sausage.

14
Pour the remaining batter. It should completely cover the hearts.

15
Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 45–60 minutes.

16
Cool the finished cake, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve.
- Powdered sugar: 20 g
