Sweet and sour Indian lentil soup

30 minutes
Sweet and sour Indian lentil soup is a vibrant and rich dish from Indian cuisine. Its base is red lentils, which give the soup tenderness, while a rich bouquet of spices including Sambar powder adds exotic heat. Sun-dried tomatoes and lemon juice provide a pleasant tang balanced by the soft sweetness of sugar. Historically, such soups are popular in South India where spices play a key role in culinary culture. The finished soup is thick, aromatic with a rich flavor and slight spiciness. It warms well, nourishes and is suitable for serving as a standalone dish. Garnished with fresh parsley, the soup gains additional freshness while braised beef adds depth of flavor. It’s an ideal choice for lovers of spicy, balanced and rich flavor combinations.
