Cod liver salad with croutons is a classic dish of Russian cuisine that combines the tenderness of a seafood delicacy with the crunchy texture of aromatic croutons. Cod liver, known for its health benefits and richness in vitamins, gives the salad a rich, slightly oily flavor that is perfectly complemented by the lightness of eggs and sweetness of corn. Mayonnaise binds the ingredients together to create a creamy texture, while herbs and crispy croutons complete the harmony of flavors. The dish is perfect for festive tables and cozy family dinners, and its simplicity makes it accessible even for culinary beginners. The salad is served on fresh leaves, with crispy croutons added just before serving to maintain their texture. This exquisite yet homely dish warms the soul with its taste.

1
Cut white bread (remove crust) into 1x1 cm cubes, if very fresh, dry without oil in a pan or oven for 5 minutes, then lightly fry in butter or vegetable oil or a mixture of both.
- White bread: 4 pieces
- Mayonnaise: 2 tablespoons
2
First, prepare the oil (melt it and heat the pan), then add the dried croutons and constantly stir them to prevent the oil from pooling on one side, ensuring the croutons are evenly browned.
- Mayonnaise: 2 tablespoons
3
Drain the oil from the cod liver, mash with a fork, add chopped eggs, corn, and mayonnaise.
- Canned cod liver: 1 jar
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Canned corn: 170 g
- Mayonnaise: 2 tablespoons
4
Mix everything and place on salad leaves (optional).
5
Only before serving, place the croutons on top (you can cover the entire surface of the salad with them or scatter them; then put the remaining croutons in a bowl for those who want to add them), and garnish with dill.
