Mushroom salad with onions (France)

Mushroom salad with onions (France) is an elegant and aromatic dish that combines tender sautéed mushrooms, sweet peppers, and pickled onions. Its roots trace back to Italian cuisine, where simple yet expressive flavors create harmony. Pickled onions add a piquant touch to the salad, while cream cheese contributes a creamy texture. Olive oil and honey balance the taste by combining the light acidity of lemon juice with deep sweetness. This salad is perfect as an appetizer or a light side dish for meat and fish and pairs wonderfully with crispy baguette. Its bright, refreshing, and rich flavor makes it an excellent choice for summer dinners or festive gatherings.

1
Fry the mushrooms until cooked.
- Champignons: 50 g
2
Cut the pepper into pieces about 1x1 cm.
- Sweet pepper: 1 piece
3
Slice the onion into half rings, place in a separate bowl, pour in 2 tablespoons of vinegar, add sugar and water, and let marinate for 20 minutes. After the onion is marinated, drain the vinegar.
- Onion: 1 piece
- Vinegar: 2 tablespoons
- Sugar: 1 teaspoon
- Water: 50 ml
4
Mix olive oil, honey, and lemon juice separately. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste.
- Olive oil: 3 tablespoons
- Honey: 2 teaspoons
- Lemon juice: 3 tablespoons
- Cream cheese: to taste
5
Cheese can be grated or sliced into thin pieces (I use a vegetable peeler for this — it makes thin slices).
6
Mix all the ingredients and it can be served.
