Pizza Margherita is a classic of Italian cuisine that embodies simplicity and elegance. Its history dates back to 1889 when Neapolitan pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito created the dish in honor of Queen Margherita of Savoy. Red tomatoes, white mozzarella, and green basil symbolize the colors of the Italian flag. The dough is light and airy with a crispy crust, while the aromatic homemade tomato sauce adds depth of flavor. The delicate mozzarella melts to create an appetizing stretchy texture, and fresh basil completes the composition with notes of freshness. Pizza Margherita is the perfect choice for connoisseurs of true Italian taste, suitable for cozy evenings at home or festive gatherings.

To prepare yeast dough, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Then add 0.5 tsp of salt and 1 cup of flour. Mix well with a wooden spoon, add 2 tbsp of olive oil and the remaining 1 cup of flour. Knead into a soft dough and place in a warm place for 1 hour.

- Olive oil: 4 tablespoons

To prepare tomato sauce, make a cross-shaped cut on the tomatoes and let them sit in boiling water for 1-2 minutes. Then peel the tomatoes and grate them (you can also pass them through a meat grinder). Next, take garlic and chop it. Heat olive oil in a pan and add the grated tomatoes. Simmer on low heat until thickened for about 30 minutes. Then add garlic, pepper, salt (if the sauce is sour, you can add 1 tsp of sugar). Remove the sauce from heat and wait for it to cool down. Meanwhile, grate our cheese and wash the basil leaves.
- Tomatoes: 4 pieces
- Garlic: 2 cloves
- Olive oil: 4 tablespoons
- Ground black pepper: to taste
- Salt: to taste
- Sugar: 1 teaspoon
- Mozzarella cheese: 200 g
- Basil: to taste

Preparing the pizza for the oven. Divide the dough into two parts (depending on the size of your pizza pan, I ended up with two pizzas, one large and one small). Roll it out, then sprinkle the pan with flour and place the rolled-out dough on it (you can adjust the thickness of the dough as you like). Spread tomato sauce on the dough (if there are two crusts, use half the sauce) and send it to the preheated oven at 250 degrees for 5-7 minutes. Then sprinkle with cheese and send it back for another 2 minutes. Garnish the finished pizza with basil.
- Wheat flour: 2 glasss
- Olive oil: 4 tablespoons
- Tomatoes: 4 pieces
- Mozzarella cheese: 200 g
- Basil: to taste
