Marinated lard with garlic and spices, baked in the oven – is a true embodiment of Ukrainian cuisine, rich in flavors and traditions. Lard infused with the aroma of garlic, mustard, and spices becomes surprisingly tender and appetizing. Baking gives it a golden crust and a rich, deep flavor. Historically, lard held an important place in Ukrainian gastronomy as not only a nutritious product but also a symbol of home comfort. This dish is perfect as an appetizer for strong drinks or as an addition to aromatic borscht. It can be enjoyed both hot and cold, and storing it in the freezer allows for enjoyment at any time. The simplicity of preparation makes it accessible to everyone while its rich taste leaves unforgettable impressions.

We wash the fresh lard well and cut it into small pieces, thoroughly rubbing it with spices (I used shashlik seasoning and coarsely ground black pepper). We stuff it with garlic. We coat it with mustard on all sides. Wrap it in foil and put it in the refrigerator overnight.
