Mac and cheese is an iconic dish of American cuisine that comforts and warms the soul with its creamy flavor. Its history dates back to colonial times when pasta and cheese became popular due to European influences. Over time, the dish evolved into a symbol of homey comfort. In this version, the pasta is coated in a velvety sauce made from butter, flour, and milk, then baked with onions and generous amounts of cheddar and Swiss cheese. The golden crust, rich cheesy aroma, and contrast of tender pasta with creamy sauce make it a favorite for family meals and cozy evenings. It can be served as a standalone dish or as a side to meat and vegetable dishes.
