Baked cod with sauce is a dish that embodies the simplicity and sophistication of Russian cuisine. The tender white meat of cod soaked in a vibrant vegetable sauce made from sweet peppers, tomatoes, and aromatic spices offers a rich flavor with a slight tang and spiciness. Baking helps retain the fish's juiciness while mozzarella adds an appetizing creamy crust. This dish is perfect for family dinners or festive gatherings, pairing well with light sides like mashed potatoes or fresh salad. Historically, baked fish was popular in Russian cuisine due to the availability of river and sea gifts and the tradition of using simple yet rich flavor combinations. Enjoy this harmonious and nutritious dish!
