The history of this dish is rooted in the traditions of Russian peasant homes where buckwheat and meat were dietary staples. Buckwheat patties are tender cutlets made from minced meat and aromatic buckwheat, fried to a golden crust and baked in a rich tomato sauce. The sauce adds juiciness and a slight tang that perfectly complements the rich taste of the meat. The dish is hearty, warming, and incredibly cozy – perfect for a family lunch or dinner.
