Cabbage stewed in pots

Cabbage stewed in pots is a traditional Russian dish rooted in old village recipes where food was cooked in clay pots in the oven. This method preserves the juiciness of the ingredients and gives the dish a rich flavor. Tender pieces of pork infused with the aroma of sautéed vegetables create a harmonious taste with soft stewed cabbage. The addition of tomato puree, vinegar, and spices adds a slight tang and zest to the dish, while flour mixed with oil makes the gravy thick and rich. Serving it in a pot emphasizes authenticity, turning the meal into a cozy home ritual. It is perfect as a standalone dish, especially on cool evenings when one wants to warm up and enjoy hearty, flavorful food.
