Ukrainian dumplings are a simple yet surprisingly delicious dish that reflects the soul of Ukrainian cuisine. Their roots go back to village traditions when housewives prepared hearty and nutritious meals from available ingredients. Dumplings have a soft, airy texture with a light creamy flavor that pairs perfectly with the aroma of melted butter or cracklings. They can be a standalone dish or a side to meat, mushrooms, and vegetables. Dumplings are especially tasty with sour cream that highlights their tenderness. This food brings comfort and warmth, the taste of childhood and family evenings. They are made both daily and for holidays because the simplicity of the recipe makes dumplings accessible to everyone while their flavor remains forever in memory.

1
Sift the flour, make a well in the center, and pour in 1/2 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, and 2 eggs beaten with a half teaspoon of salt. Mix everything with the flour and knead until a smooth, not too stiff dough forms.

Roll the dough into an even layer 1/2 cm thick and cut it into small pieces of any shape.

At this time, heat oil in a pot or pan, add the dumplings, shake in the dish, lightly fry, and serve.
