Put the beans in a pot, cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and drain. Add cold water to cover the beans, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes. Drain all the broth.
- White beans: 250 g

Place the ham, shanks, potatoes, cabbage, and lard in a large pot. Add enough water to cover all the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for an hour. Add the beans, cook for another half hour, and serve hot.
- Ham: 150 g
- Beef shanks: 2 pieces
- Turnip: 500 g
- Pork fat: 1 tablespoon
- Salt: to taste
