Rice with tomato paste in a frying pan

A simple recipe when the boring rice suddenly becomes more cheerful due to tomato paste. This side dish can be served with meat, chicken, and fish - in any case, the rice will make friends with the main ingredient on the plate and will not steal the show. If you want to go further and make the side dish brighter and tastier, you can bet on different herbs and spices: paprika, basil, dill, cilantro and other fresh and dried greens.

Clean the onion and chop it finely. Pour vegetable oil into the pan and fry the onion until golden. Then add tomato paste, mix, and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Onion: 2 pieces
- Vegetable oil: 60 ml
- Tomato paste: 2 tablespoons

Add the washed and dried rice to the onion and sauté for 1 minute. Then add the Italian herb mix, ground black pepper, salt, sugar, and boiling water (the water should rise 2 cm above the rice).
- Rice: 300 g
- Italian Herb Blend: 2 teaspoons
- Ground black pepper: to taste
- Salt: to taste
- Sugar: to taste
- Water: 700 ml

The dish is cooked covered on low heat for about 20-25 minutes.
