Shanghai Chicken
6 servings
30 minutes
Shanghai-style chicken is a vibrant and aromatic dish of Chinese cuisine that combines tender meat, crispy cabbage, and a rich sauce with hints of orange and honey. This recipe reflects the philosophy of Eastern gastronomy where the balance of flavors plays a key role: the sweetness of honey, the saltiness of soy sauce, the freshness of cabbage, and the mild spiciness of garlic create an amazing harmony. Historically, chicken dishes were common in traditional Chinese recipes, and adding citrus notes makes it more modern. Noodles soaked in fragrant sauce and topped with crunchy sesame add richness to the dish. Chicken sliced into strips laid over the noodles makes for an elegant presentation while adding greens completes the composition. Perfect for family dinners or cozy lunches when you crave something both hearty and refined.
