Shepherd's Pie

Shepherd's pie is a classic British dish from the 18th century, featuring a meat filling stewed in red wine with onions and tomato paste. Mashed potatoes with butter and cheese create a creamy texture, while baking forms a golden crust. It's perfect as a cozy family meal.

Boil peeled potatoes in salted water and mash them. Add 100 ml of milk and 30 g of butter, mix well.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Add it to the puree and salt. Mix 2 eggs into the cooled puree.

Clean and chop the onion and garlic. Sauté in 3 tbsp of vegetable oil. Add the minced meat and fry. Add tomato paste and pepper. Pour in red wine, sauce, and broth; simmer for 20 minutes. Add salt.

Grease the baking dish with vegetable oil (1 tsp). Spread the minced meat evenly on the bottom, then top with puree. Mix the egg yolk with 30 ml of milk and brush the pie. Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 10-15 minutes. During cooking, sprinkle the pie with cheese.
