Orange compote is a sunny drink filled with citrus freshness and a light tartness. This traditional Russian compote, known for its simplicity and rich flavor, perfectly quenches thirst and gives a feeling of summer warmth. Oranges peeled from the bitter skin add sweetness and softness to the drink, while lemon juice adds a subtle zest. Cooking with sugar reveals the depth of flavor and makes the compote gentle and balanced. This drink can be served hot in winter or chilled in summer; it pairs wonderfully with desserts and light snacks. In Russian homes, compotes have always held a special place – they were made from seasonal fruits and served at family meals, symbolizing coziness and hospitality.
