Rosehip decoction with orange

Rosehip and orange decoction is an ancient drink known for its healing properties and rich aroma. Dried rosehip, rich in vitamins, especially vitamin C, combines with juicy orange to give the decoction a subtle citrus freshness. This drink warms on cold evenings, boosts immunity, and delights with its soft, fruity taste with a hint of tartness. Honey adds a light sweetness that highlights the natural notes of the ingredients. Traditionally used in folk medicine and as a great alternative to regular tea. The uniqueness of this drink lies in its ability to become richer with each preparation due to the steeped rosehip. Tasty, healthy, and soul-soothing — this decoction is perfect for cozy home evenings.

1
In a large pot, add a 300-gram pack of dried rose hips (which is 3 200-gram cups in volume).
- Dried rose hips: 320 g
2
Pour 15 cups of clean water (3 liters) over the rose hips.
- Still mineral water: 1 l
3
Cover the pot with a lid and bring the infusion to a boil, which may take 20 minutes for this volume of water.
4
After boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for half an hour until the berries burst and sink to the bottom of the pot.
5
Roll the orange on the cutting board until softened to release juice inside. Slice into rounds, add to the rosehip broth, and turn off the stove.
6
Once the broth cools down, sweeten it with floral honey (the sweetness of honey varies by its type and quality; I need 5 tablespoons for a 3-liter pot). Just don't add honey to boiling water — it will only retain sweetness and you won't achieve the desired infusion. You can strain it, but I don't do that as it becomes richer each time.
- Flower honey: 5 tablespoon
