Masala tea with milk

Masala chai is a fragrant Indian drink that combines strong tea, milk, and a rich bouquet of spices. Its origins date back centuries when it served not only as a warming treat but also as a means to improve digestion and boost immunity. The secret of its flavor lies in the spices: cardamom, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon create a spicy, warming, slightly sharp yet surprisingly harmonious taste. Honey or sugar adds a touch of sweetness that balances the bitterness of black tea. It is served hot through a strainer to preserve its rich aroma. Masala chai is not just a drink; it's a small journey into the world of Indian traditions where each sip brings warmth and comfort.

1
First, we prepare a masala spice mix. For this, we peel the ginger root and grate about 1-2 cm on a coarse grater.
- Ginger root: 1 piece
2
We break the cardamom, clean the seeds, and grind them with other ingredients (except ginger) into powder in a coffee grinder or mortar.
- Green cardamom seeds: 5 piece
- Black cardamom seeds: 1 piece
- Black peppercorns: 2 pieces
- Carnation: 2 pieces
- Ground nutmeg: pinch
- Ground cinnamon: 0.5 teaspoon

Mix milk with water and bring to a boil. Add spices and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add honey or sugar to taste. I usually add a teaspoon of honey.
- Milk: 1 glass
- Water: 0.5 glass
- Honey: to taste
- Sugar: to taste

Add tea (granulated or leaf) and simmer for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, let it steep for 5 minutes. Pour into cups through a strainer and enjoy the wonderful taste of masala tea.
