Martinez is a classic cocktail considered the predecessor of the modern martini. Its origins trace back to the late 19th century when bartenders began experimenting with combinations of gin and vermouth, adding a touch of maraschino and bitters. The drink has a deep and complex flavor – the light sweetness of maraschino liqueur harmonizes with the herbal and spicy notes of vermouth, while gin provides structure and freshness. Orange peel adds a citrus note, and the cocktail cherry completes the composition with a refined accent. Ideal for leisurely evenings and pleasant conversations, it is served chilled to reveal its full flavor palette.

1
In a mixing glass made of crystal (or a regular crystal glass with a volume of at least 150 ml), filled two-thirds with ice, first pour in the bitter tincture, then the liqueur, sweet vermouth, and gin.
- Angostura: 5 ml
- Maraschino liqueur: 15 ml
- Vermouth: 50 ml
- Gin: 50 ml
2
Place a spoon in a glass with ice and gently stir or swirl the spoon for at least ten seconds to lower the drink's temperature as much as possible.
3
Peel the orange zest into a long twisted ribbon and place it with fresh ice in a pre-chilled clean glass.
- Oranges: 1 piece
4
Strain the cocktail into a glass with fresh ice (bartenders do this using a special cocktail strainer, which is a round disc with a handle, holes, and a spring around the perimeter).
5
Top with a cocktail cherry.
- Cocktail cherry: 1 piece
