Tzatziki is one of the most popular sauces in Greek cuisine, refreshing, aromatic, and delicate. Its history traces back to ancient Greece, where yogurt with herbs and garlic was an integral part of traditional dishes. Classic tzatziki gains new depth of flavor from white wine vinegar, adding a light spiciness and subtle tanginess. Cucumbers provide freshness to the sauce while herbs add a spicy richness. Olive oil softens the texture and makes the taste more harmonious. This sauce pairs perfectly with meat, fish, vegetables, and also serves as a dip for crispy bread or pita. It is served chilled to maintain its refreshing properties.

1
Grate or finely chop the cucumbers. Drain excess juice to prevent the sauce from being too runny. Crush the garlic, mix it with the cucumber and yogurt.
