Taramasalata is a refined Greek appetizer with a rich flavor and velvety texture. Historically, it is part of the traditional Mediterranean feast where seafood holds an esteemed place. The main ingredient is cod roe, giving the dish a delicate saltiness that harmonizes with the creaminess of mashed potatoes and the light spiciness of onion. Lemon juice adds a refreshing tang that highlights the depth of flavor. Taramasalata is perfect as a dip or spread, especially with crispy toasted bread. This dish is a celebration for gourmets who prefer exquisite yet simple-to-make treats that convey the spirit of the Greek coast.
