Portokalopita is a Greek orange pie that delights with its tenderness and juiciness. Its history is rooted in the traditions of Mediterranean cuisine, where citrus fruits are used to create aromatic and rich desserts. This pie combines airy phyllo dough soaked in orange syrup with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. The taste of Portokalopita is a harmony of sweetness, the light tartness of orange, and subtle spicy aroma. Its uniqueness lies in the unusual use of phyllo dough, which tears into pieces and becomes part of the pie's structure. Serving it with pieces of stewed oranges makes it even more exquisite. This pie is perfect for tea gatherings and cozy evenings, filling the atmosphere with the aromas of Greek sunshine and traditions.
