Egg yolk cookies are delicate and crumbly pastries with a rich, creamy flavor and a light citrus aroma of lemon zest. This recipe has roots in European cuisine, where egg yolk-based pastries are valued for their softness and rich taste. The addition of sour cream and butter gives the cookies a unique velvety texture. They pair perfectly with tea or coffee and can be a great treat for family evenings. The sweet sugar crust adds a light caramel note. Cookies can be shaped into pretzels or use cookie cutters for a festive look. The versatility of the recipe allows for experimentation with add-ins like vanilla sugar or cinnamon to enhance its flavor.
