Apple casserole with a crispy crust is a cozy and aromatic dish of Russian cuisine that evokes warm family evenings. Its roots trace back to traditional Russian baking recipes where juicy apples were combined with tender dough and spicy notes of cinnamon. The casserole is airy inside and crispy outside, creating a delightful contrast of textures. Lemon juice and zest add a slight tanginess while sugar balances the flavor. This treat is perfect for breakfast, afternoon tea, or a cozy dessert with loved ones. Served hot, it can be complemented with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of sour cream. A wonderful choice for lovers of homemade pastries!
