Soft Chocolate Cookies

4 servings

90 minutes

Soft chocolate cookies are the true essence of comfort and pleasure. Its history roots back to American cuisine, where it became a favorite treat in many families. The rich taste of dark chocolate, complemented by warm notes of cinnamon and clove, creates an exquisite aroma that awakens the appetite. The tender texture with a light crispy crust and soft center makes it the perfect accompaniment to a cup of aromatic coffee or a glass of milk. These cookies are great for cozy evenings at home, festive treats, or just to indulge yourself with something special. Their preparation requires patience and precision, but the end result is a delight worth every step.

Cooking steps
  • 1

Melt butter, chocolate, and sugar over low heat in a saucepan. Pour the mixture into a bowl and let it cool (it's important that the mixture is not hot).

    Required ingredients:
    1. Butter70 g
    2. Brown sugar140 g
    3. Dark chocolate150 g

In a separate bowl, mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cloves.

    Required ingredients:
    1. Wheat flour170 g
    2. Cocoa30 g
    3. Baking powder0.5 teaspoon
    4. Salt0.3 teaspoon
    5. Ground cinnamon0.3 teaspoon
    6. Ground cloves pinch

When the chocolate mass cools down, add the egg and mix until the ingredients are combined. Add the dry ingredients in several stages. Wrap the resulting dough in plastic wrap and leave it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

    Required ingredients:
    1. Chicken egg1 piece
  • 4

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and heat 2 baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

  • 5

Take the chilled dough out of the fridge, make balls with a diameter of 1.5 cm, and place them spaced apart. If the dough is crumbly (as it was for me), warm each ball slightly in your hands until elastic, then shape it into a ball. Once you have placed all the balls, gently press each one to make unique discs.

  • 6

Bake for 10-12 minutes, no more. It may seem like a short time, but don't worry, even if the cookies are still soft when you take them out of the oven, they will harden a bit and reach the desired state. In any case, it's better not to overdo it.

  • 7

Chill and serve with a glass of milk or a cup of aromatic coffee.
