Apple cottage cheese casserole is a tender and aromatic dessert loved by many generations in Russian cuisine. The combination of cottage cheese, apples, and vanillin gives the casserole softness and a slight sourness perfectly complemented by sweetness. Historically, cottage cheese casseroles were popular in Russia as a nutritious and simple dish accessible to everyone. Apples add freshness and a fruity note while flour and semolina provide the necessary density. It is easy to prepare: mix cottage cheese with eggs, flour, and semolina, place it in a mold, decorate with apple slices, and bake until golden brown. It can be served as an independent dessert or with honey, jam or sour cream making the morning cozier and richer. It is perfect for both breakfast and a light dinner.
