Irish bread is a hearty and simple dish from the Irish countryside, traditionally made with minimal ingredients. Its history is rooted in the poverty and modesty of peasant life, where available products were turned into nutritious and tasty bread. Baking with kefir gives it softness, while the combination of two types of flour and oats creates a dense and slightly crumbly texture. A special touch is the cross-shaped cut, which the Irish often see as a blessing for good luck. This bread pairs wonderfully with breakfast spread with butter and jam but can also be a great addition to soups or stews. Its simplicity makes it accessible to everyone, while its taste is unforgettable, with light nutty notes and a pleasant tang.
