Banana-orange gingerbread

Banana-orange cookies are a cozy treat with a light citrus accent that evokes memories of warm evenings and home comfort. This recipe combines the tenderness of banana and the freshness of orange, creating fragrant pastries with a soft texture and subtle fruity flavor. Historically, cookies in Europe were popular for their long shelf life, and the addition of fruits gave them a new shade of tenderness. They are perfect for family tea time or a sweet break during the day. Easy to make, these cookies can be slightly flattened before baking to create beautiful golden rounds that complement a hot drink perfectly. The finishing touch is a dusting of powdered sugar that adds special elegance.

1
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line the baking tray with paper.
2
Peel and mash the banana with a fork. Grate the orange peel and squeeze out the juice. Mix everything together.
- Bananas: 1 piece
- Oranges: 1 piece
3
Mix flour with sugar and baking powder. Add thinly sliced butter and mix.
- Wheat flour: 230 g
- Sugar: 125 g
- Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
- Butter: 75 g
4
Mix the two resulting mixtures and knead a thick dough (it should be like plasticine).
5
Form small balls from the dough and place them on a sheet at a small distance from each other (considering that they will slightly swell). They can be flattened.
6
Bake for 12–15 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- Powdered sugar: to taste
