Finnish salmon soup is a traditional dish of Finnish cuisine that embodies the heartiness, tenderness, and sophistication of northern flavors. The thick and aromatic soup combines the freshness of salmon, the softness of potatoes, creamy velvetiness, and a hint of dill's spiciness. Its history traces back to fishing settlements in Finland where the soup was made from fresh catches with simple yet rich ingredients. Today, this soup has become not only a cozy home dish but also part of restaurant gastronomy. Its delicate creamy-fish taste makes it ideal for cold evenings while the moderate amount of spices allows for enjoying the natural harmony of ingredients. It is served hot, often with pieces of fresh bread highlighting the comfort and warmth of northern cuisine.
