Canned fish soup

Canned uha is a simple yet soulful dish of Russian cuisine that saves you when fresh fish is scarce. Originating as an alternative to classic uha, it retains a rich fish flavor and aroma thanks to canned saury. The broth is rich and slightly oily, potatoes add thickness, while sautéed onions and carrots contribute sweet notes. Bay leaves and peppercorns enhance the depth of flavor, while herbs add freshness. This dish is perfect for cold days or when you crave something warming and hearty without long preparations. Canned uha pairs well with black bread and is great as a standalone dish for a cozy home dinner.
