Cod in yellow sauce is a fragrant and tender dish of Russian cuisine inspired by the tradition of pairing fish with spicy creamy sauces. The snow-white cod meat absorbs a rich sauce where sour cream and cream harmoniously blend with sweet-sour notes, mustard, and a noble mix of spices: saffron, turmeric, curry, ginger, and tarragon. This gives the dish a warm, slightly spicy flavor with delicate sharpness and rich aroma. Baking under foil helps retain the fish's juiciness while finely chopped onion adds light sweetness and textural depth. Cod in yellow sauce is an ideal choice for a cozy family dinner or festive table where you want to delight guests with the refined taste of traditional cuisine.
