Shepherd's pie is a classic dish of European cuisine with roots in the British countryside. Traditionally made by farmers using leftover meat and mashed potatoes, it is hearty and aromatic, combining tender minced beef with caramelized onions and savory rosemary, topped with a fluffy layer of potatoes with a golden crust. This pie is perfect for cozy family dinners, especially in cold weather when you crave something homey and warming. Its delicate texture and harmony of flavors make it a beloved dish, while the ability to vary ingredients allows for personal adaptation of the recipe.

1
Thawed minced meat (you can use any of your choice) should be salted and peppered to taste, mixed with finely chopped onion and dried rosemary, and fried in olive oil until cooked. If you don't want to add extra fat, just stew the minced meat until done.
- Ground beef: 1 kg
- Ground black pepper: to taste
- Salt: to taste
- Sweet red onion: 0.5 piece
- Dried rosemary: to taste
- Olive oil: 10 ml
2
Put washed and peeled potatoes in boiling water, cook until done, mash into puree, adding milk and butter. To help the puree hold its shape and develop a golden crust, mix in 1 chicken egg, but this is not necessary.
- Potato: 700 g
- Milk: 200 ml
- Butter: 15 g
- Chicken egg: 1 piece
3
Place the minced meat in a greased dish (I don't use parchment paper in this case, it's tastier with oil), flatten it, and spread mashed potatoes on top.
- Ground beef: 1 kg
- Potato: 700 g
4
Place in a preheated oven at 220 degrees. Since all ingredients are ready (IF YOU DID NOT ADD RAW EGG!), just bake the puree for 20 minutes until golden.
- Potato: 700 g
