Bulgarian potatoes are a cozy and aromatic dish from sunny Bulgaria, where the simplicity of ingredients meets the richness of flavor. Tender thin slices of potato soaked in butter combine with airy cottage cheese to create a delightful balance of tenderness and richness. Baking under foil allows the ingredients to exchange flavors, while the final topping of whipped eggs and yogurt adds a light golden crust. The dish is nutritious, with a soft texture and light sour milk notes that perfectly complement the potatoes. Bulgarian potatoes are an ideal treat for both family dinners and cozy evenings with friends, served alone or with a light vegetable salad.

1
Beat the cottage cheese with softened butter, salt, and pepper until smooth. If the cottage cheese is very dense, it should be passed through a sieve first. Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly.
- Cottage cheese: 500 g
- Butter: 100 g
- Potato: 6 pieces
2
In a greased baking dish, layer one-third of the potato slices, then spread one-third of the cottage cheese mixture on top. Add another third of the potatoes and cottage cheese. Layer the remaining potatoes and cottage cheese, smoothing the surface with a wet spatula. Cover the dish with foil, tucking in the edges. Place in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and take off the foil.
- Potato: 6 pieces
- Cottage cheese: 500 g
