Ham with green beans is a simple yet surprisingly rich dish of American cuisine that carries the warmth of family dinners and cozy evenings. The roots of this recipe trace back to the traditions of the southern states, where ham and legumes have always been the foundation of hearty and aromatic dishes. Tender, slightly salty smoked ham pairs wonderfully with fresh green beans that absorb the rich meat juices. Cooking uncovered allows the aroma to fully develop, and the broth left after cooking turns into a delicate sauce that gives the dish a velvety texture. The finishing touch is garlic butter that enhances the flavor harmony. This dish is especially good served in cold weather when one craves something warming and homey.

1
Remove the ham from the pot and cut it into strips.
2
Pour out part of the broth from the pot with beans, leaving about 200 ml of liquid. Mix the chopped ham with the beans and the remaining broth directly in the pot. Season with salt and pepper to taste and warm slightly.
- Salt: 2.5 teaspoons
- Ground black pepper: 1 teaspoon
3
Serve in deep plates with broth as a sauce and garlic butter.
4
